Gary Stark joined Advocate Advisors in 2018. Gary has nearly 20 years of private equity
experience making investments in the lower / middle market across a wide range of industries.
Gary’s experience includes transaction origination and execution, due diligence, deal
structuring and negotiation, and managing investments post-close. For the past five years, Gary
has been Managing Partner of Iron Range Capital Partners, the firm he founded.
Prior to founding IRC, Gary’s private equity experience includes Partner roles at Generation
Growth Capital and Alpha Capital Partners. His early career experience includes investment
banking at CIBC Oppenheimer and consulting at Ernst & Young.
Gary received a BBA summa cum laude in finance from the University of Minnesota, and an
MBA from the University of Illinois. Gary has earned the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
designation. In addition to his private company board roles, he currently serves on the Board of
Directors for North Lawndale College Preparatory, a charter school for low-income high school
students. Gary is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
