Michael Brim brings a unique blend of operational, financial, real estate and entrepreneurial expertise to his role as COO. With over 31 years of experience in the commercial and industrial real estate industry, he has been the main catalyst in designing and instituting innovative approaches to the business and its operations which has provided meaningful impacts in achieving uncommon growth and profitability at four (4) Chicagoland real estate firms where he held both the CFO and COO titles. Michael's career experience includes; mergers & acquisitions, operations, organizational design, financial management and reporting, financial negotiations, legal/regulatory compliance, strategic planning, risk management, banking and cash management. He is dedicated to the ongoing identification, design and implementation of internal control procedures to ensure the accuracy of all financial information and to maximize business unit profitability.

Prior to joining Advocate, Michael was the CFO for Placid Investors, Inc (a wholly owned subsidiary of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (“UBC”)) where he was responsible for the successful operations of four autonomous entities for the UBC. Prior to the UBC, Michael was the CFO and COO of four major Chicagoland Commercial and Industrial real estate firms where he has led all aspects of operations, management, internal controls, tax planning, accounting, risk management, benefits, information technology and human resources. Michael also co-led the successful merger/negotiations of US. Equities with CBRE, Inc. Prior to that, he was a principal for several successful start-up companies where he led overall business strategies, financial practices and operations.

Michael received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Iowa and an MBA from DePaul University, Chicago. He is affiliated with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society; he is a member of FEI (Financial Executives International), CFO Chicago, and CFOLG (Chief Financial Officer Leadership Group). He is a certified public accountant and holds an Illinois Managing Brokers real estate license.
